Fossil Cowries from the Philippines This page features a set of fossil Cypraeidae collected at a site near Puerto Galera, Mindoro island. These shells are of Pliocene age (6 mill. years) and in exceptionally good condition. They are similar to some living species, but there are also differences. No fossil cowry has so far been recorded from the Philippines, and these shown here well deserve further study.
