These large insects are commonly found in Baltic Amber. Good specimens with intact wings and well-visible head are uncommon. Their live-cycle demands water. The occurrence of these insects in Baltic Amber suggests that there were many rivers and lakes beneath the forrests that formed the amber. Water is also essential for the fossilization process of the resin.
